THE MEN AND WOMEN ARE BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL LEADERS WHO VOLUNTEER THEIR TIME AND RESOURCES TO HELP OTHERS IN THEIR LOCAL COMMUNITIES AND THROUGHOUT THE WORLD. THE OBJECTIVE THE FOUNDATION IS TO RAISE FUNDS AND MAKE DONATIONS AT THE LOCAL, NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL LEVEL.

ANNUAL DONATIONS

PURPOSE IS TO EDUCATE COMMUNITY AND ENCOURAGE INTEREST IN ELDER ISSUES; TO PROMOTEPROGRAMS AND SERVICES BENEFITING ELDERS AND OTHER RESIDENTS IN NEED; AND, TO SUPPLEMENT FUNDS NOT PROVIDED BY LOCAL, STATE OR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT THROUGH SEEKING MEMBERSHIP DONATIONS, FUNDRAISING EVENTS, GRANT MONIES AND PRIVATE/CORPORATE GIFTS.

DONATIONS

THE ORGANIZATION OPERATES A RETAIL THRIFT STORE WHICH ACCEPTS DONATIONS OF CLOTHING AND HOUSEHOLD GOODS FROM THE GENERAL PUBLIC. NET PROCEEDS FROM RESALES OF THESE ITEMS ARE USED TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL SUPPORT AND EXPOSURE TO THE WORK OF HOSPICE RELATED ORGANIZATIONS.

TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES. THIS ASSISTANCE INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO HOME HEALTHCARE TO PATIENTS NOT COVERERED BY INSURANCE, SCHOLARSHIPS TO CHILDREN OF PATIENTS AND DONATIONS TO NATIONAL OR STATE ASSOCIATION CHAPTERS.

The purpose of the corporation is to engage in the following activities:To carry on the collection and storage of goods and household items and distribution of such items to needy persons in the greater , Massachusetts area; to enter into contracts with persons, firms, and corporations for providing donations of such goods and household items; to lease or license equipment or storage space for any of the foregoing purposes or for any purposes ancillary to, arising out of or incidental to or related to said purpose; to raise funds through various fund-raising activities for the purchase of goods and household items for needy persons; to do or cause to have done any and all such acts and things as may be necessary, desirable, convenient or incidental to the consummation or accomplishment of any or all of the foregoing purposes or such other purposes which may be lawfully engaged in by a corporation in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

CHARITABLE DONATIONS

The organization accepts donations sponsoring a charity golf tournament, with all proceeds donated to CCFA (Crohns and Colitis Foundation of America) in support of Camp Oasis For Kids. Donations are in memory of who perished in the 9/11 World Trade Center terrorist attack.

The Joe DiMaggio Lodge #2248 was chartered by the OSIA on July 31, 1971. Since our founding, we have distinguished ourselves by our philanthropic endeavors and exemplary service to the community. We have provided donations to local churches as well as civic and community service organizations. Recipients include the St Vincent DePaul Society Food Pantry, various charities, soccer teams, and individual families need. Working with the 3 area high schools we implemented an Italian Language studies program. To recognize this accomplishment we have established 3 scholarships which are awarded annually to graduating seniors from the John Jay, Roy C Ketcham, and Arlington High Schools. The scholarships are awarded to those seniors who have demonstrated exemplary performance the Italian language program.
